The Introduction of Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra

The Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra, an international professional Symphony Orchestra, is a part of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China. The Artistic Director of the orchestra is Professor Yu Feng, the internationally famous Chinese conductor and the President of the Central Conservatory of Music. The Orchestra is composed of outstanding professional musicians from China and abroad. All musicians are recruited globally and assessed rigorously. The orchestra members possess exquisite playing skills and a passionate, serious attitude towards performing classic works from ancient and modern China and other countries. The Orchestra fulfills the mission of a “double first-class” university, responding to the national call for achievement at the highest artistic level, and cultivating the strategic development of high-precision musical talent. The Orchestra is serving for talent training, performance of composition works, international exchanges, domestic and foreign music festivals and competitions.
As an international professional symphony orchestra, we remain true to our original aspiration and keep developing. We adhere to the standpoint of Chinese culture and base on contemporary Chinese reality, meanwhile we also spread the sound of modern, world-oriented and future-oriented music. Hundreds of concerts have been held since the Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra was founded. In 2017, the orchestra performed Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, conducted by Professor Yu Feng, for guests from all over the world at the opening concert of the inaugural conference of the Belt and Road Music Education Alliance, held at the Central Conservatory of Music. At the end of that year, the Orchestral performed the contemporary Chinese works including “Eight Ensemble • Silk Road Reverberation” and Scheherazade at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing. Also in 2017, the live concert recording of Scheherazade conducted by Professor Yu Feng with the Orchestra won the Best Performance Award of the 10th China Golden Record Award (Instrumental Music).
In mid-October 2018, under the creativity and conducting by President Yu Feng, the Italian opera Turando was successfully showed in the Gongwangfu palace which was the palace of the prince in Qing Dynasty in the Central Conservatory of Music. The opera has attracted the enthusiastic of numerous domestic and foreign audiences, and the performance has achieved a great success. It has been highly praised by leadership of relevant national departments, ambassadors and cultural counselors of various countries, and it has also been very influential in the musical fields at home and abroad.
The Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra Cooperates with dozens of famous musicians and vocalists in the world at domestic and foreign music festivals or special concerts.

At the beginning of 2018 and at the end of the year, the Chinese Contemporary Music -- The World Premiere Concert by the Central Conservatory of Music performed twice at the Lincoln Center in New York, USA. It was highly praised by worldwide music mainstream media. In December 2019, the Central Conservatory of Music was invited to hold a concert of new compositions in Carnegie Hall, New York, USA. It spreads the sound of Chinese outstanding culture and compositions on the American continent once again.
At the 70th Anniversary Celebration Party of the National Day of the People's Republic of China on October 1, 2019, as one of the main symphony orchestras of the " Symphony Orchestra consists of thousands people ", the Central Conservatory of Music symphony orchestra was invited to perform in Tian’anmen Square by the National Day Headquarters, which fully reflected the high expectation by relevant national departments, and the Orchestra has demonstrated the performance and artistic style of the Central Conservatory of Music to the people around the world.

As the only professional symphony orchestra in college, the Orchestra actively implements the requirements of the Ministry of Education to bring high-quality art to the university campus. Fostering character and civic virtue are essential to its mission, aiming to improve aesthetic education and students’ artistic and humanistic qualities. In its approach to masters of music and classics of the repertoire, as well as become self-improvement through culture, the Orchestra’s concerts at dozens of colleges and universities have been warmly welcomed by thousands of students, faculty members and the public.
The Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra concerts attract huge reflections every time. It has become the most influential symphony orchestra in China. The Orchestra’s high-quality performance and brilliant achievements have demonstrated the brand-new charm and leading power of Chinese domestic symphony performance to music lovers at home and abroad.
I. Recruitment Principles:
Voluntary registration, public examination, meritocracy, metric of merit.
II. Recruiting range and basic conditions of applicants:
1. Globally oriented, regardless of nationality, region, gender or age;
2. Applicants require bachelor's degree or above, or the performance diploma equivalent to a bachelor's degree or above, meanwhile hold excellent professional techniques and skills.
III. recruitment positions:
Professional positions such as violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute (also piccolo), oboe, English horn (concurrently), horn, trumpet, tenor trombone, harp, percussion, timpani, etc.
IV. Remuneration:
1. The principal of the orchestra and the trainee performer are given preferential treatment according to their position level.
2. The monthly salary of regular members is RMB 12,000.
3. All members of the orchestra implement an employment contract and enjoy Insurance and Housing fund. The enrolled members perform the probationary period during the contract period according to relevant regulations. Those who pass the probationary examination after the probationary period are formally hired, and those who are not qualified will in disqualification.
